Being a college student is tough, especially when it comes to affording food.
Jon Bon Jovi and his wife Dorothea were at Rutgers University in New Jersey this week to unveil the new JBJ Soul Kitchen at the college’s Paul Robeson Campus Center. Instead of having prices on the menu, students can pay whatever they can afford. A $12 donation is suggested and it will get you a 3-course meal. If you are able to afford the meal and have some extra cash to spare, you can also pay more than the $12 as a way to pay it forward. Students can also work at the Soul Kitchen to help pay for their meals as well.
Bon Jovi's wife is the driving force behind the idea. She said that students have enough to worry about and their next meal shouldn't be on that list. A third of students attending college struggle with hunger, so the Soul Kitchen will truly make a huge difference in so many lives.
Earlier this month, Bon Jovi announced plans for a 2020 Arena Tour kicking off on June 10 in Tacoma, WA. Bryan Adams will join the band for the 18 dates, wrapping up with two shows at Madison Square Garden in July. Tickets will go on sale this week, with fans getting early access to their upcoming album, Bon Jovi 2020. You can find the full list of upcoming shows here.
